Endplate sclerosis may represent the only histopathologic abnormality seen in some patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. Patients manifesting isolated endplate sclerosis ( also referred to as "endfolium sclerosis" have a much poorer expected postoperative outcome with respect to seizure control than patients with hippocampal sclerosis involving other sectors.
