Inclusion body myositis, H&E stain x400

In many cases of inclusion body myositis, rimmed vacuoles are readily appreciated on routine H&E stain sections of frozen muscle. Processing for paraffin embedding dissolves the granules associated with the vacuoles of inclusion body myositis, necessitating the use of immunohistochemical staining for confirmation.
