Schizencephaly, lateral surface of brain.
Schizencephaly typically involves the posterior frontal lobes adjacent to the Sylvian fissure, which is responsible for motor disturbances typically seen in these patients. When schizencephaly is bilateral, seizures and cognitive dysfunction also tend to be present.
