Musculocutaneous Motor Nerve - recording the Biceps

Origin:  C5-6 roots, upper trunk and lateral cord of the brachial plexus, Musculocutaneous nerve.

Recording Site:  Biceps muscle

Reference Site:  Distal upper arm

Ground:  Upper arm

Stimulation Site:  Axilla and Erb’s point.

Procedure:  The recording electrode is placed over the belly of the biceps muscle.  The reference electrode is placed on the upper arm just above the elbow.  Stimulation occurs in the axilla, just beneath the tendon.  Additional stimulating sites include Erb’s Point.
