Muscle Name: brachioradialis

AKA:  musculus brachioradialis

Abbreviation:  

Spinal Nerve Roots:
    C5
    C6

Brachial Plexus Trunks:
    upper trunk

Brachial Plexus Cords:
    posterior cord

Named Nerves:
    radial nerve

Proximal Attachment: Lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus

Distal Attachment:  Distal radius (Radial styloid process)

Action:  Flexion of forearm

Needle Insertion:  With the arm held midway between pronation and supination the needles is inserted slightly distal to the midpoint between the tendon of the biceps and the lateral epicondyle.

Activation for EMG:  Flex the elbow.

Pitfalls:  

Notes: Abnormal in lesions of the radial nerve at or proximal to the spiral groove
