Here, we are defining a "learning module" as a combination of:

  • Pre-test
  • Flash-based lecture or other multimedia teaching material
  • Post-test

Example

Mixing with Face-to-Face Learning

  • Limited by duration of module
  • Very brief modules:  silly to have pre-test & post-test
  • Longer modules:  hard to incorporate into conversation
  • Desire is to avoid quiet grumbling and resentment

Outcome:

  • “The module itself was very good”
  • “I like being able to go back if I need to…”
  • Consensus:  there are site navigation issues that need to be fixed
  • Minimal difference between pre-test and post-test (ceiling effects)
  • Difficult to trim module down to a duration that can be well mixed with face-to-face
