Which of the following correctly describes the pathway to the auditory cortex upon listening to Josh Tatofi?

        A) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of superior colliculi → bilateral superior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

        B) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

        C) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

        D) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → lateral geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS

A) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of superior colliculi → bilateral superior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

This answer is incorrect.

The auditory pathway is carried via the inferior colliculi not the superior.  (See References)

B) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

This answer is incorrect.

The brachium of the inferior colliculi precedes the bilateral inferior colliculi of the midbrain.  (See References)

C) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

This answer is correct.

Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → medial geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe  (See References)

D) Oval window → cochlear duct with Organ of Corti → spiral ganglion → cochlear nerve → cochlear nuclei in medulla → brachium of inferior colliculi → bilateral inferior colliculi in midbrain → lateral geniculate nucleus in thalamus → auditory cortex in temporal lobe

This answer is incorrect.

The auditory pathway uses the medial geniculate nucleus (think "M" for music).  (See References)
