Which of the following about the neuron action potential is TRUE?

        A) The smaller the diameter of the axon, the faster the conduction velocity of the action potential

        B) Myelin allows the axon to conduct a signal faster without having to increase diameter

        C) Action potentials can ONLY EVER move in One Direction

        D) Action potentials move down the axon in a decremental fashion

ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS

A) The smaller the diameter of the axon, the faster the conduction velocity of the action potential

This answer is incorrect.

Larger-diameter axons have longer length constants and therefore faster conduction velocity  (See References)

B) Myelin allows the axon to conduct a signal faster without having to increase diameter

This answer is correct.

Lipids act as insulator so electrical signals can flow through the cytoplasm of myelinated cells without significant degradation  (See References)

C) Action potentials can ONLY EVER move in One Direction

This answer is incorrect.

I mean in a sense yes because refractory periods but they really do move in both directions, it's just that refractory periods are stopping them from going backwards  (See References)
