Proximal Attachment:  trapezoid, flexor retinaculum

Distal Attachment:  thumb, proximal phalanx

Action:  Flexes the thumb at the first metacarpophalangeal joint

Needle Insertion:  In the medial aspect of the thenar eminince.

Activation for EMG:  Flex the thumb at the metacarpophalangeal  (MCP) joint.
