Axillary Motor Nerve - recording the Deltoid

Origin: C5-6 roots, upper trunk and posterior cord of the brachial plexus, axillary nerve.

Recording Site: Deltoid muscle

Reference Site: Distal upper arm

Ground: Shoulder

Stimulation Sites: Erb’s Point

Procedure: The recording electrode is placed over the lower deltoid where all three heads are close together. The reference electrode is placed on the upper arm just above the elbow. Stimulation occurs at Erb’s Point.
