Brachial Plexopathy (including Thoracic Outlet Syndrome)

Median sensory recording the bilateral  index and middle fingers.
Median sensory recording the bilateral thumbs.
Ulnar sensory recording the bilateral llittle fingers.
Radial sensory recording the bilateral dorsal thumbs.
Lat Antebrachial sensory recording the bilateral forearms.
Med Antebrachial sensory recording the bilateral forearms.
Median motor recording the abductor pollicis brevis with F-Waves
Ulnar motor recording the abductor digiti minimi with F-Waves

Additional studies that may be performed as needed:

Musculocutaneous motor recording the bilateral biceps

Axillary motor recording the bilateral deltoid muscles.


Needle Examination

Perform needle exam on the symptomatic limb.  Test the minimum of one muscle innervated by the C5, C6, C7, C8 and T1 spinal roots (see Appendix C) and posterior, lateral and medial cords and upper, middle and lower trunks.  Examine additional muscles as needed to localize lesion.  Perform examination of cervical/thoracic paraspinals to exclude radiculopathy or root avulsion.  Perform needle exam on the asymptomatic limb muscles for comparison as needed.
