Attachment: Attachments vary depending on depth of muscle.
Action: Extension and rotation of cervical spine.
Needle Insertion: Count up from C7 based upon the spinal level being tested. Insert ~1 cm lateral to the spinous process.
Activation for EMG: Extend the neck.
Pitfalls: May be difficult to relax these muscles. The patient may have to flex their neck.
