Basilar artery thrombosis, ventral surface of brain.
In addition to severe atherosclerotic features, sectioning of this basilar artery demonstrated an occlusive thrombus. The absence of significant parenchymal pathology is a testimony to the effectiveness of collateral circulation through the circle of Willis.
