Tubular aggregate, Gomori trichrome stain x 400
Similar to collections of mitochondria, tubular aggregates are seen on trichrome stain muscle sections as eosinophilic granular subsarcolemmal material. However, unlike mitochondria, tubular aggregates are not highlighted on succinate dehydrogenase or cytochrome oxidase histochemical stains. Both tubular aggregates and mitochondria stain strongly with NADH-TR histochemistry.
