Action: Flexion of the hip
Needle Insertion: The femoral pulse is palpated in the supine patient, the needle is inserted 2-3 centimeters lateral to the pulse just distal to the inguinal ligamen.
Activation for EMG: Have the patient flex their hip.
Pitfalls: Too medial insertion may lead to the femoral artery being pierced, too lateral and the sartorius is sampled.
