Can a medication cause myasthenia gravis in a patient who does not have myasthenia gravis?

 
        A) Sure. Pyridostigmine can do that.
 
        B) Sure. Penicillamine can do that.
 
        C) You betcha. Botlulinum toxin can do that.
 
        D) No way, Jose.
 
        E) Yeah. Prednisone can do that.

Pyridostigmine is an acetylcholine esterase inhibitor. It is used for symptomatic treatment of myasthenia gravis.  (See References)

This answer is incorrect.


Botulinum toxin blocks neuromuscular junction function presynaptically. This is not the same as inducing myasthenia gravis in a patient.  (See References)

Prednisone can cause acute worsening of myasthenia gravis in a patient who already has myasthenia gravis. This is not the same as inducing myasthenia gravis in a patient who does not have the disease.  (See References)
