The first (and rate-limiting) step in the synthesis of dopamine is the conversion of tyrosine into L-DOPA by tyrosine hydroxylase.
Then, L-DOPA is converted into Dopamine by DOPA decarboxylase.
Dopamine is converted to norepinephrine by dopamine beta-hydroxylase.
